Community Education Seminars

Our one hour seminars are valuable for mainstream and LGBT community members, employers, service providers, caregivers and support networks. Here’s a sample of a few of our most requested seminars.

Gay & Gray: What You Need to Know About Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Elders

The mainstream community has limited knowledge of the psychosocial, cultural, historical and economic issues facing LGBT elders. This seminar will explore some of the unique characteristics of this population; generational differences, similarities to mainstream aging, policy and planning issues for service providers, and suggestions for reaching this hard to reach population.

Caregiving 101: What you need to know about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Caregivers

When does helping out turn into caregiving? A recent survey indicated that one in four midlife LGBTs provides care for a loved one parent/partner/spouse/friend/relative more than the general population where one in five adults is a caregiver. How does sexual orientation or gender identity impact caregivers, care recipients and their care? How can we help caregivers maintain a healthy balance between caring for others and caring for themselves?

Real People, Real Stories: The Lives of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Elders

Nothing educates an audience better than real people telling life stories. Members of our speakers bureau will share their life experiences with audiences who want to learn more about what life has been like, and is like for older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
